The North Brink Brewery was built in 1795 and the brewhouse is a classic English Ale brewery and Elgood’s proudly carry on the brewing of their own beers for local and wider distribution across the UK. The process is carried out using equipment dating from 1910 to the present day, as a program of refurbishment of the brewery has been sympathetically carried out over the last few years.
Visitors can see the 1910 Mash Tun, where the brews start their life, as hot brewing liquor is blended with the ground malt to make the mash, which produces the sweet wort full of malty flavour. The hops are added in the 1950 Copper (made from copper!) and are boiled into the wort to add the bitterness and aroma. The hops are separated in the newly renovated 50’s Hop Back, now lined in stainless steel, and the wort is then chilled on an enclosed palte heat exchanger en-route to the Fermenting Vessels.

Wansford Station
Wansford station is the headquarters of the Nene Valley Railway. The station brings together three forms of transport in one location, with the River Nene being separated from the railway by the "Old Great North Road".
Turntable Cafe, Shop and Toilets, disabled and child facilities are also located within the station building, Our Garden railway operates on some running days along with the model railway. The waiting room on platform two is referred to as "The Barnwell Building" due to it having been moved from Barnwell station to the NVR on April 5th 1977. The building was built in 1884 for use by members of the Royal family when visiting Barnwell Manor, home of HRH Duke of Gloucester. The Wansford old station building on platform three was built in 1844/5 for the opening of the line. Built in a Jacobean style it features much ornate stone masonry. The NVR has recently acquired this building and will renovate it for use by the NVR and local community. The signal box was built in 1907 by the London & North Western Railway to replace three smaller boxes. The signal box was originally built with 60 levers and is one of the largest preserved signal boxes in its original location.
The picnic area at Wansford is open all year round. Sitting at one of the picnic tables here you can watch the signalman operating the box at Wansford while the trains pass over the river, bridge and viaduct. It’s a great location for taking photographs. Our children’s play area was opened in 2002 with the aid of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and is available all year round. Elegant Georgian town house with wonderful walled garden
Peckover House is a secret gem, an oasis hidden away in an urban environment. A classic Georgian merchant's town house, it was lived in by the Peckover family for 150 years.
The Peckovers were staunch Quakers, which meant they had a very simple lifestyle - yet at the same time they ran a successful private bank. Both facets of their life can be seen through your guided tour of the house and as you wander the gardens.
The gardens themselves are outstanding - 0.8 hectares (2 acres) of sensory delight, complete with orangery, summer-houses, croquet lawn and rose garden with a varitety of species of rose.
Please note...
Access to the house is by pre-booked guided experience only. Tours start at 11am and 1pm. On the rare occasion that a tour guide is not available for the tour of the House, an introductory talk will be given and then free time to look around the house, pre-booking is still essential. Access to the garden is free flow and does not need to be booked.

The Wash is the biggest bay in England running from just south of Skegness to Hunstanton.
This is one of the most outstanding coastal wetlands in Europe with its bleak, yet beautiful landscape of saltmarshes, mudflats and open water.
The intertidal mudflats and saltmarshes are one of Britain's most important winter feeding areas for waders and wildfowl.
Large numbers of migrant birds such as grey plovers, dunlins, oystercatchers and godwits arrive in the autumn to feed on the rich supplies of foods found in the sands and mudflats.
The best time to see large flocks of waders is on a rising tide between September and early May.
The area is also a breeding ground for Atlantic grey seals.
The Wash National Nature Reserve is accessible by the Peter Scott Walk. Many sites away from the footpath on the sea wall are extremely dangerous and should only be explored with an experienced local guide.
The Wash has a number of other habitats of conservation significance, including saline lagoons, shingle structures and dune complexes.
Safety - keep to paths and do not stray into areas where they may be quicksand and dangerous tidal conditions. Visitors are advised to stay on the seawall.
Sea Trips - Come and see the seals! on the Boston Belle
This trip lasts roughly 4.5 hours and takes you through the Grand Sluice lock then downstream through historic Boston on the River Haven. We pass the Boston Barrier, the port, any commercial shipping and the fishing fleet on our way to the estuary and into the Wash. Finally, we nose up the River Welland to see the bold colony of seals as well as an abundance of birdlife before returning home. Whilst onboard passengers can buy a hot drink and a snack from the galley or treat yourself to a tipple from the bar. Bring your binoculars to make the most of this trip.
